Year 12 - Trip to Albania

The Year 12 sociology students embarked on a memorable trip to Albania. Here’s a reflection from Insalf about her experience:

"On the second day, we visited the monastery. Climbing the hill was quite challenging, but the experience was incredible. It was fascinating to see how much the monastery is valued and preserved, especially in a country that was once occupied by the Ottoman Empire. The remnants of Ottoman paintings on the church ceiling were particularly striking, yet the building itself remained untouched, showcasing the Ottoman Empire's millet system, which was essentially pre-modern religious pluralism.

Additionally, visiting the ruins of Apollonia, named after the Greek god Apollo, was incredibly enriching. Knowing that Aristotle himself walked there was inspiring for me as a Theology student. Walking in the footsteps of such a significant historical figure was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, for which I am very grateful”.
